		<description>Yeah, I don't really blame people for claiming the flag, but I still don't personally understand it.  I suppose that, oddly enough, that's a privilege of having my own nation be colonized by the US - my family never had to struggle for rights as US citizens (instead, of course, my people get to struggle against the US imperialism that makes us US citizens).</description>

Symbols matter, after all; and while what the flag is *supposed* to stand for (in its best incarnation) and what it actually does are often very far apart indeed, I think...yeah, wave the fucker if you want to wave the fucker.  Reappropriation works a lot of different ways.
