I struggle with the death penalty, I have to admit. It's hard not to be brutalised by some of the crimes where the death penalty is given. But, I have no desire to be brutalised in participating in the death of a prisoner, or see society brutalise itself, either. I cannot support it, then, because what are we if not killers ourselves?

It's not a secret that the death penalty weighs disproportionately on members of minority groups, as well. Where is the outcry, about this? More accurately, where is the outcry that some people get off with unequal sentencing, whether the sentence is death, life imprisonment, or a lesser sentence because an expensive lawyer got someone plea bargained? Or evidence is suppressed, to either make a better case for the defense, or for that matter ignored, to make a better case for the prosecution!

What about the victims, and justice? Is becoming brutal ourselves, justice? Is it restorative somehow? If I am murdered (and I am member of a population that is more likely than most to be murdered) I do not want anyone to die on my behalf.

If we would want justice, we should work to prevent brutality from becoming (more) pervasive in our society. We should hold the death of an innocent little girl, a young man of color, an LGBT woman, a person in another country, far away anyone! up as totally unacceptable behavior...and work to make it never happen again.

This person decides to risk his freedom and pursuit of happiness by raping, torturing and brutally murdering someones child , but also forcing that child to be raped, tortured, murdered and choosing her path for her (against her will) she didn't get to choose life much less a peaceful death.I cannot believe anyone would even suggest clemency ! Oh my lord ,he's lived what? ,24 years after commiting this crime, hes fed, clothed, watches tv,gets all the medical attention he needs and this young girls life no longer exists because of him.I've got a great idea since the cost of everything in the free world is rising lets make cutbacks where they need to be cut. These inmates just like Mr. Morales should have to eat dog and cat food and you can donate the prisioners square meals to the innocent animals!
